The Hokie Pokie

So while I was doing the hokie pokie in the shower (washing off my legs without actually getting in), I decided to write a new blog. I should be studying for a test I have tomorrow, but the night is young, and I have plenty of time for that nonsense. We played a soccer game tonight. We started with seven players out of nine and went behind by two goals. Two other guys showed up, so we had the full amount. We scored our first goal and then another one. A little after our second goal we asked the ref how much time was left. He replied, "One minute." Shortly thereafter I scored a goal to win the game. I won't talk about how the floor we played is the nerdiest floor on the whole campus. They were good...maybe.

Anyway tonight in our devo, we talked about how it is unnecessary to be circumcised and how Paul says that if we circumcise ourselves we are putting our faith into the law and not into the God. We would have "fallen away from grace." So essentially we are not bound by the law anymore, but bound by the Holy Spirit (Romans 7:6). So does that mean we can go against the law if the Spirit commands it? That is the question I asked to spark some conversation and we had a ball trying to answer it. You're probably saying no, you can't go against the law. Then if we can't then we should be circumcised right? But, Paul directly says that is unnecessary. I read this afterwards and it directly talks about the law. In the same Romans passage, Paul writes how the law is good, righteous, and spiritual. So we obviously cannot go against it. Point for you. But he still says we should not be circumcised. Point for me. How bout I throw this in there. What if not being circumcised is not against the law, it is just not for it? Yay! We all win! It's a thinker. Post your ideas if you want. I do not think you have to have a profile to do it.

God for Obama?

So I have not written in awhile because I was in the dungeon. I can only use 5 gb of bandwidth a month here and when I go over the internet is like dial up and takes 30 minutes to check one page. Therefore I have not had a chance to write another one of my nail-biting blogs. We started intermural soccer last week. We lost our first game, but then we won our second game yesterday 3-2. It was an exciting game, and after watching the other teams in our bracket play tonight, I think we might actually win some more games. Classes are going well, still acing all of them, but then, what did you expect?

I got to thinking yesterday about the election since it is kind of a big deal. I always had the mind set that I had to vote for McCain since he aligns with most of my beliefs as a Christian and such. But then I thought to myself, what if God told me to vote for Obama? What? Yeah, I know. It does not make sense to vote for him since McCain represents the Christian beliefs more so than Obama, but then what if God did want me to vote for Obama? I kind had taken God out of this part. I had asked Him to have His hand over the election (make McCain win), but that is wrong. What if God wants Obama to win? Isn't it about bringing glory to God? How do we know as human beings that God would not receive more honor and glory through Obama's presidency? He's worked in weirder ways before. Whatever the outcome to the election, we as Christians should earnestly pray God's Will for our president and our country and that He would receive the utmost praise.
