"Hey, I Haven't Seen You in a While"
The truth is that only three weeks have passed since I have been at college and it has not been that long of a time since I last saw my friends. But nonetheless I was glad to hang out with my Mexican friend Arturo and Neil this weekend. It was also good to see Martha and Nate and talk to them for a little while. It's refreshing to see friends that you have done so much with. Especially at this trying time at 1:30 in the morning it really tests to see if going this weekend was worth it, but of course it was.
I went to David Crowder's church today. It mainly consists of college students, in fact, I only saw one person outside of their 20s. The worship was good but that is to be expected since it is Dave, yet I did not find the message as pleasurable. The pastor only used one scripture in his whole sermon and even then it did not tie in very well to what he was saying. He pretty much took the quote "All truth is God's" and applied that to situations in today's society. He did have valid points that helped me but the main thing he was trying to get across just was not happenin'. He took the quote and said that a person can go to a movie that has sex related stuff, crime, and items of that nature as long as they realize that the honesty and love and care that also takes place in the movie comes from God. He said that a person next to you will not see that you understand these truths of God but that is alright. Well...he is wrong. And guess what? That is God's truth right there. He failed to mention the temptations that come from watching such trash and causing a brother to stumble.
On another note, I hope to find a good solid church here in Longview that I can get plugged into and help out some.
