Kill the Flesh

I was reading 2 Corinthians the other day and God showed me some truth that is very obvious in the text I just never perceived it that way before. The following is from the first 10 verses of the 5th chapter. So read the verses first and the read the following.

We cannot be satisfied with these earthly tents. We must desire more than this flesh, we must desire that our heavenly dwellings will swallow up our sinful flesh and produce nothing but life. We must desire that our lives produce life. We must desire that our lives produce life and not death like our flesh produces.
God desires us to long for our heavenly bodies and put our eyes heavenward and not on our desires. It should be a burden to us that we are trapped in our flesh, a flesh that is corrupted. We should desire perfection in our present state so that we may overcome our flesh so that we may be presented as good before Christ.
With this mindset our focus will not be to please our flesh but it would be to overcome our flesh desires so that we may produce much more life. Much more will be beneficial to the Kingdom if we have this attitude.

So we have to kill this flesh so that our spirit and God's spirit may fully reign in our lives. It is not easy at all but it is a part of sanctification, which is something we should strive for so that we do not hinder the gospel in any manner.

Love ya'll
-Brennen
